Animated adventure by the Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli,
written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and loosely based on Hans
Christian Andersen's story 'The Little Mermaid'. When a feisty baby
goldfish/mermaid called Ponyo (voiced by Noah Lindsey Cyrus) runs
away from her home in the sea, she ends up stranded on the shore
and is rescued by Sosuke (Frankie Jonas), a human boy who lives on
a nearby clifftop. Ponyo yearns to become human herself so that she
can be with Sosuke, but many obstacles stand in her way. Cate
Blanchett, Matt Damon, Lily Tomlin and Liam Neeson lend their
voices to the English version of the film.

Hayao Miyazaki writes and directs this Japanese animated feature
from Studio Ghibli. As a young boy, the bespectacled Jiro Horikoshi
(voice of Hideaki Anno) dreams of flying a plane but when he learns
he will be unable to become a pilot due to his poor eyesight, he
instead decides to be an aircraft designer. On September 1st 1923
Jiro is travelling by train when the Great Kanto earthquake
strikes. He assists fellow passenger Naoko (Miori Takimoto) and her
maid who suffers an injury. He doesn't meet Naoko again till many
years later after he has graduated university and has worked on
various designing jobs, without finding much success. The two fall
for each other and become engaged but Naoko is suffering from
tuberculosis. While they try to enjoy the time they have together
Jiro continues to work on designing his first successful plane.
Isao Takahata directs and co-writes this Japanese anime from Studio
Ghibli. A bamboo cutter (voice of Takeo Chii) finds a miniature
girl (Aki Asakura) and takes her home to his wife (Nobuko Miyamoto)
so they can bring her up as their own daughter. The girl grows
unusually fast and, believing her to be a princess, the bamboo
cutter uses gold he discovers to treat her like royalty, relocating
his family from the mountains to a mansion in the capital city.
Before long, the girl, who has been named Princess Kaguya by a
royal priest, finds herself attracting the attention of a number of
suitors but she isn't interested and wishes she was back in the
mountains with her friend Sutemaru (Kengo Kora). Despite her
unhappiness, she doesn't want to return to the life she had before
she was taken in by the bamboo cutter. However, she comes to
realise she may not have a choice...

Hayao Miyazaki's magical box office hit in Japan is re-presented
here for the US and UK market using voices of Hollywood stars such
as Claire Danes, Billy Crudup and Minnie Driver. Ashitaka (Crudup)
is a young warrior who travels to the forests of the west in order
to search for the cure which will save him from a terrible curse.
But almost as soon as he arrives he gets caught up in the prolonged
battle which rages between the humans and the forest animals, the
former being led by Lady Eboshi (Driver), and the latter by San
(Danes), a young woman raised by wolves.
Children's Japanese anime.13-year-old Kiki (voice of Kirsten Dunst)
is a young witch who, at her mother's request, is setting out on a
year-long apprenticeship with her black cat in tow. She ends up in
a little coastal town, but the locals have a 'no witches' policy.
She befriends an old woman who fusses over her, but then one day
she wakes up and realises she can't make her broom levitate nor can
she talk to her cat. What will Kiki do?
